Local children each take 100 steps for Montessori Centenary

One hundred local children today joined youngsters across the world to walk the circumference of the globe.

The youngsters, from the children's house nursery and Montessori school in Stallingborough, each walked a hundred steps, marking the Centenary of the Montessori philosophy of education. The children’s combined steps will be added to an international website which aims to ‘Walk the Equator for Montessori’

Taking part in the walk on June 20th, the children aged eighteen months to 10 years, walked a total of 10,000 steps towards the 40,000 km circumference of the world.

Director & Montessori teacher Theresa Ellerby said “Children from both nursery and school came together to celebrate Montessori education and raise money for charity. We are very pleased to be supporting the Diana, Princess of Wales Pink Rose Appeal.

Since 1907, Montessori education has developed millions of children around the world on their journey to adulthood. Maria Montessori began her work in a disadvantaged area of Rome and its clear the philosophy is still working today!

We also released 100 balloons”

The Montessori school Stallingborough is one of only 30 Montessori elementary schools in the UK.
